1. CC+I has invested over six (6) man-years of engineering design to successfully develop and implement a powerful automated computer integrated manufacturing (CIM) system. At the outset, CC+I’s conceptual design criteria was to allow the computer system to assign performance standards automatically calculated by the computer only, as well as use a mixture of plant process engineering standards, and computer calculated standards for any mixture of process machine types and associated products. Thus, the end product is a DECISION SUPPORT SYSTEM (DSS) - - - - - not just a machine monitoring system that reports RUN-STOP conditions. Instead, it is a STANDARDS BASED PERFORMANCE system that far exceeded our original design goals in terms of “added value” to measuring and reporting manufacturing processes on an accurate and uniform basis. 2. The CC+I DSS system incorporates advanced computer and network technology, giving Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) facilities the capability to monitor, analyze and report critical machine performance and quality information on a real-time basis. 3. The system is based upon a PC network of computers running the Windows 2000 operating system and Microsoft's SQL Relational Database which provide the capability to integrate these systems into a plant-wide network. It also provides the capability to interface to business data systems via Open-ended Data Base Connectivity (ODBC) compliant architecture. 4. The Windows-based DSS 2000 software allows the networked PC/Win 2000/NT/98/95 workstations to perform detailed data analyses and present the data in graphical form, SPC charts, and trends. This method includes the capability to automatically measure and report job performance (machine and operators) against known user standards , or computer calculated standards, using CC+I's unique software algorithms. 5. A key benefit to the customer is that the DSS monitoring software package allows the computer to automatically determine problems, causes and corrective action. Again, the information is graphically presented, and includes text windows supporting data, when desired. Comprehensive SPC data analyses and reporting are also graphically presented in terms of current and historical trends, using user-chosen parameters for data start and stop time periods. 6. Another significant value-added benefit that DSS offers the manufacturing marketplace is the capability to ensure “NO DATA LOSS” should the data collection network fail for whatever reason. CC+I’s machine interface hardware/software stores the data until the network database host is back on-line. 7. Informative, user friendly screens allow any authorized user to easily select the specific data to be seen or analyzed. A simple "point and click" or touch action is all that is required to "customize" a screen/report as desired by any user. 8. On-line help screens are provided to assist users with an interpretation of all screens, including graphic and trend displays, as well as text forms and reports.
