CC+I was founded in 1988 by a group of design engineers and top management personnel, following the acquisition of J.P. Stevens & Co., Inc. by WestPoint Pepperell. 

The group had worked together for eight years with this large multi-billion dollar textile company in designing, developing and successfully implementing computer integrated manufacturing systems throughout the Stevens corporation.  

This same technology was later adapted to other industries.
